What is this?
At the Aereopagus Tavern we attempt to recreate the atomosphere of a rollicking barroom symposium. At any time there will be a few different symposia going on, which you can access by going to any of the tables off the main Tavern page. Once there, you can join in on the discussion by clicking on one of the empty seats, or you can add a comment by going to the waiter.
How do I join in?
Go to one of the tables and click on one of the empty seat graphics, which are below the main image with blacked out figures. From there you will be sent to a page with a form you can fill out.
What is the Waiter?
By clicking on the waiter from the navigation bar across the top, or off the front page, you can make a comment on one of the speeches you have read, which will be added below the speech. You can also buy that speaker a drink. If you are particularly impressed with the speech, buy the speaker a beer. If you didn't like it (and think they need to sober up), buy him a glass of water.
What are the rules governing speeches/comments?
Speeches are kept to a strict 500 word limit. Comments are kept to 100 words. The style you choose to write in is up to you. Humour is welcome and appreciated, but you should have some kind of substantial point.
I've submitted my speech, but its not on the symposium. What happened?
At the present, it may take a few days for speches to actually appear online. Within the next few months, we hope to upgrade our technical know-how to make instant posting possible.
