Heidi on Courtship: Since members of both sexes may so fraudulently misrepresent themselves - both to the eyes of others and even that of their own - is there not a certain virtue in facing ourselves and our own inadequacies before seeking a refuge or a diversion from them in the excitement of romance? After all we must learn to walk without the aid of a prop or a crutch before we can hope to be a suitable companion on life's pilgrimage. Or to put it in other words we must acquire a knowledge of ourselves before we can really hope to either know someone else or show someone else our own depths. Therefore I raise my glass to courtship but must look distastefully down on the compulsive addicts of repetitive relationships.
