NP201 Introduction to Square Mechanics
Square mechanics
are the rules which govern
how characters interact with one another in a plot.
NP211 Introduction to the Red Square The Red square is where most Fairy Tales, Romances, and Cloak and Dagger stories take place. NP211 introduces the King, Princess, Rogue, Shrew, Usurper, Psiren, Trickster and Nymph archetypes. NP212 Introduction to the Yellow Square Most coming of age stories, orphan stories, and master-disciple tales take place on the Yellow Square. NP212 covers the archetypes of Magus, Mother, Disciple, Orphan, Wise Man, Medea, Disgrace and Parasite. NP213 Introduction to the Green Square Westerns and War movies, Film Noir and Prison stories all find themselves on the Green Square. In NP213 we discuss the Priest, Intercesser, Avenger, Adulteress, Pharisee, Prude, Coward and Whore. NP214 Introduction to the Blue Square Blue Square stories include most Epic Fantasy, Psycho-Thrillers, Horror stories and lives of Virgin Martyrs. NP214 concerns the Martyr, Virgin, Warrior, Valkyrie, Sun King, Victim, Beast, and Amazon. NP215 Introduction to the White Square Stories of murder, mystery and madness are generally found on the White Square. In NP215 we meet the Judge, Crone, Fool, Simpleton, Accuser, Witch, Cripple and Mule.
